Every gentlemen should know this
Tying a necktie can seem challenging at first, but with a little practice, you'll be able to do it easily. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to tie a necktie using a common knot called the "Four-in-Hand" knot:
Start with the wide end of the tie on your right side, and the narrow end on your left side. Make sure the wide end hangs about 12 inches (30 cm) below the narrow end.
Cross the wide end over the narrow end, forming an "X" near your neck.
Bring the wide end up and through the loop around your neck, from underneath.
Pull the wide end down to your left, keeping it to the front of the narrow end.
Pass the wide end behind the narrow end from left to right.
Bring the wide end up again, from underneath, and pass it down through the loop around your neck. This creates a second loop in front of the knot.
Hold the narrow end and slide the knot up towards your neck by pulling on the wide end. Adjust the knot by holding both ends and sliding it up or down until it reaches your desired tightness.
To finish, make sure the tip of the wide end is tucked behind the knot. It should be hidden from view.
Adjust the tie by straightening it and ensuring it falls at the desired length.
With practice, you'll become more comfortable tying a necktie. Remember to keep the proportions and length of the tie suitable for your height and body type. You can experiment with different knots as well, such as the Windsor or Half-Windsor, to find the one that suits your style best.
